In Pt. 2 of the Victorian project, the focus was on developing a story about the children’s relationships with their Victorian friends. The group acted out poses that represented how they would individually engage with their Victorian child if they were to meet. These imagined encounters were full of playfulness and compassion.
Combining photographs they took of their local area with images of Victorian buildings, the group created collages that contextualized their cross cultural and time travelled friendships.
The children used drawing and drama to help plan and develop their final portraits in relation to meeting their Victorian friend.
Using these portraits and all the other images they had collected over the term, the group began designing and assembling their collages.
All 30 pupils took great pride in having their work on permanent display in their school.
